Winters can be cold in Burgundy, and from the end of October onwards, you should plan for some warm clothes, and possibly wet weather. However as with all of Europe, average winter temperatures are rising, and if you are lucky, you may have some fine sunny weather, with temperatures between 15 and 20C. February 2019 was an extraordinary month, with sunshine every day, and temperatures approaching 20C on some days, but this is far from the norm. From March onwards, the weather generally starts to get better, although there can still be cold spells, but for country walks, or cycling to keep warm, March and April can be nice months to visit. The months of April through to the end of October, are generally regarded as ‘the Season’. May, June, September and October, are generally fine months, neither too warm, nor cold, and these are the most popular months for visitors, with October having the advantage of the autumn colours in the vines, a truly magnificent sight. July and August can also have perfect weather, although permeated by some particularly hot spells, with temperatures reaching the high 30’sC.
